This year marks the Calgary Stampede’s 150th year. The ten day event brings in more than one million people from all over the world. It is truly the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.
The rodeo is one of the many reasons for the popularity of the stampede. Come down and watch barrel racing, bareback, bronc, roping, steer wrestling, and bull riding every afternoon. With $2M in prize money the Stampede takes the rodeo seriously. Every evening the stampede also hosts chuck wagon races and the TransAlta Grandstand Show. You will have the chance to pet these giants while the breeders discuss their love for the animals. From miniatures to draft horses these animals will amaze you with their beauty. The animals do not stop at horses the Stampede also offers a chance for you to see cows, donkeys, ducks, llamas, pigs, and sheep. And be sure to watch man’s best friend perform high agility stunts in the Dog Bowl.
Come experience BBQ the Calgary Stampede way with the must try smoked turkey legs. Come experience food trends that popped up all over Calgary during the previous year. These include rolled ice cream, waffles and chicken, cookie dough, unicorn themed food, and raindrop cakes. Other intriguing food includes the world’s hottest pizza, chicken feet, deep fried Jell-O, and soft shell crab. And there is so much more!
Want to take in some free music? Check out Coco-Cola Stage with this year’s line up including Theory of a Deadman, Nelly Furtado, and The Stumbellas. This outdoor stage allows you to stay close to the Stampede action while viewing some fantastic bands. For legendary +18 country music check out Nashville North. In the Saddledome artists such as Brooks and Dunn, and Usher will be performing.
Let the midway fulfill your adrenaline junkies needs. With countless rides and games you could spend an entire day in this one of many sections. Rides include a giant ferris wheel (Giant Wheel), roller coasters (Outlaw), spin rides (Polar Express), and swings (Wave Swinger).

Come learn about Treaty 7 and the five nations of Kainai, Tsuut’ina, Stoney Nakoda, Siksika, and Piikani. 26 tipis will be set up with designs covering the outside. Step inside the tipis and discover beadwork, buckskin outfits, and artifacts.
Escape it all without leaving the grounds. This is an oasis surrounded by plants and a water feature where you can enjoy local music, art, and crafts. All while indulging on food and wine.
